Tasting notes
Taiping Houkui is grown in Huangshan, Anhui, from Shidaye bushes and hand-fired in a wok. This is the 2026 Pre-Qingming flush, picked before the Qingming festival while the buds are still tight.
In the cup it reads toasted and stone-fruit, with a light roast and medium caffeine. Brew 3g in 150ml of 80°C water for 60–90 seconds, and the leaf will give three good infusions.
We buy this lot direct from the people who make it and name the village it comes from. Nothing is blended across farms, and nothing is held in a warehouse overseas — the tea is packed at origin and shipped in small batches.
Brewing guide
Green tea scalds easily. Let the kettle rest for a few minutes after boiling, or mix in a splash of cold water. Short steeps, no cover — the third infusion is usually the sweetest.
