Tasting notes
Shui Xian Lao Cong is grown in Wuyi, Fujian, from Shui Xian bushes and charcoal-roasted over a slow fire. This is the 2025 autumn flush.
In the cup it reads roasted-nut and cocoa, with a medium roast and medium caffeine. Brew 5g in 120ml of 95°C water for 20–30 seconds, and the leaf will give six to eight good infusions.
We buy this lot direct from the people who make it and name the village it comes from. Nothing is blended across farms, and nothing is held in a warehouse overseas — the tea is packed at origin and shipped in small batches.
Brewing guide
Oolong wants heat and a small pot. Rinse the leaf for five seconds and discard, then steep. Rock oolongs reward many short infusions — add ten seconds each round once the roast softens.
