Yixing clay is unglazed and slightly porous. Over months of use it takes on the character of the tea brewed in it, which is why one pot is usually kept for one kind of tea.

Keep this pot for roasted oolong or ripe puer. Fill it about a third with leaf, use water just off the boil, and pour quickly — the clay holds heat longer than porcelain.

Rinse with hot water and let it dry open. Never use soap, and never put it in a dishwasher.
